Virrentakoja is a ritual folk artist hailing from Eastern Finland. Based around the tradition and folklore of the artist's home region, North-Karelia, the texts used for the song lyrics are actual spells gathered from this region during the 15th through 18th centuries. Traditional nordic instruments like the kantele and the jouhikko are employed to evoke the spirits of yesteryears, while the driving force of repetitive, massive ritual drumming adds an entrancing, otherworldly dimension to the music.

This edition of the album also features the improvised "Tasausriitti" bonus track from the "Luinen lukko, lihainen linna" single, as well as Virrentakoja's self-titled debut EP in its entirety.
